Afnet opens Durban office

Transport and logistics specialist Afnet has just opened a Durban office, with a distinct focus on container logistics services within SA and into Africa, according to newly appointed director and manager of Afnet Durban, Niki Warren. “The Durban office has been opened as an extension of the Afnet Johannesburg office,” she said, “and is intended to improve and expand the logistics solutions we are able to offer our business partners. “To support our container logistics service we have our own fleet of containers.” The company’s rental offerings include various routes which allow overborder turn-in. “We are specifically offering turn-in at Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Harare and Bulawayo on both 6 metre (20 foot) and 12m (40ft) containers,” added Warren. “We load the majority out of our yard in Boksburg, so our hauliers avoid delays and queues, thus improving their efficiency and turnaround times.” The cabotage product includes routes in and around SA, as well as various routes extending into Africa. It also provides return to SA from Africa subject to availability. “Currently,” said Warren, “we have cabotage containers from Johannesburg to Harare, Blantyre and Lilongwe.” The company also has a division exclusively handling abnormal cargo for the mining and engineering sectors and freight forwarding agents. It also focuses on breakbulk and containerised cargo, and one-and eight-tonne collections and express deliveries. It currently operates on local and national routes, and offers over-border transport to Zimbabwe; Zambia; DRC; Malawi; Mozambique; Botswana; Namibia; Angola and Tanzania.
