Warehousing, stevedoring and logistics services at the port of Lüderitz Bay have been strengthened by the Novaship Group. The Novaship Logistics division has opened warehousing which now includes a cold storage facility. UCD has also acquired a new container forklift handler, according to Novaship managing director, Willie Prosser. The Nova Namibia Group, which includes Novaship Namibia, Novamarine and UCD, has also opened a Novaship logistics and retail hardware store in Lüderitz Bay. UCD operates the only secure container park in the port of Lüderitz. Services include container handling, storage, cleaning and minor repairs. Working with the rest of the Nova Namibia Group it can offer a full supply chain logistics service, says Prosser. At present seafood makes up the bulk of the cargo handled, but he says the group has invested to cater for greater diversification of the freight handled by the port. “We are geared up to support the future development of the southern region and Lüderitz port.
