Access grows its base

Terry Hutson ACCESS, the new name for Access Freight, is rebranding and expanding to cope with a ‘phenomenal’ increase in business. The Durban-based freight forwarding, warehousing and transport logistics company founded in 1991 has extended into Gauteng with two large operations and will shortly open another in Cape Town. In order to consolidate the company under a single title, Access Freight and Access Warehousing simply become Access. The Durban operation facing Edwin Swales Drive in the Bayhead area has recently been expanded with several container parks adding to the portfolio of services offered by the company, says MD Kevin Loudon. One of the container parks has rail access and both are close to the Durban harbour as well as main road services out of the city. The 11.5ha site at Bayhead, which includes warehousing, a motor vehicle depot and the two new container depots, is among the largest in the Durban area and unusual in being so close to the port. The fully equipped facility includes a bond storage area for imported motor vehicles. The warehousing division makes use of the former Transwerk warehouses in Edwin Swales Drive for bulk warehousing.
