It is sad to have to say farewell to one of the highly productive characters in the freight industry. Mark Hampton, MD of DSD Freight Management, passed away on July 23. Speaking about their mutually shared involvement in the industry, his wife, Janine Hampton, human resources manager at a.hartrodt in Johannesburg, told FTW that Mark had a “great passion” for transferring skill back into the industry. “He was one of the providers involved in learnerships, consulting and training,” she said, “with a strong commitment to nurturing the latent skills in those new to the marketplace, and who had a desire to improve their knowledge of the industry.” Juliette Fourie, MD of Metro Minds, agreed. “He was a valuable contributor to our training syllabus,” she said.
