Our client is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and performance of their vehicle fleet. This role is responsible for ensuring all cars, motorcycles, trucks and vans are maintained to the highest operational standards, ensuring maximum availability and minimal downtime.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating vehicle maintenance, managing relationships with fuel suppliers and leasing providers, monitoring fleet performance and costs, and ensuring compliance with all contractual, legal, and safety requirements. You will play a critical role in maintaining efficient fleet operations, supporting business continuity, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Duties:
- Manage and maintain accurate vehicle records across all fleet management systems and log sheets, ensuring vehicle information is always up to date.
- Maintain the Vehicle Management System by updating vehicle details, insurance information, and leasing company records to ensure data accuracy.
- Conduct daily morning and evening vehicle inspections to ensure the fleet remains roadworthy, safe, and fully operational.
- Monitor and record vehicle odometer readings to support accurate servicing schedules and mileage tracking.
- Capture all fuel, maintenance, servicing, and repair costs on the Vehicle Management System to ensure accurate cost control.
- Coordinate the swift resolution of vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and mechanical failures while arranging replacement vehicles when required.
- Monitor Vehicle Tracking System reports, including speeding, vehicle activity, and GPS connectivity, and investigate any irregularities.
- Liaise with fuel suppliers, leasing companies, and service providers to ensure contractual obligations and service standards are met.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with company policies, health and safety standards, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Prepare regular fleet performance and maintenance reports, providing management with accurate operational insights.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field (advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in fleet management or logistics operations, with a proven track record of managing and optimising fleet performance.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between operational sites when required (non-negotiable).
- Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices, fleet operations, road safety regulations and legislative compliance.
- Proficient in fleet management systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyse data and produce accurate reports.
