Working option for Transnet truck drivers affected by fuel pipeline

At least 100 Transnet
truck drivers will be
guaranteed employment
when the logistics giant
launches its new fuel
pipeline between Durban
and Johannesburg.
This comes after
outsourcing company
Innovative Staffing
Solutions offered to
employ at least 100
suitably qualified drivers
when an anticipated 1000
trucks are pulled off the
roads as the new pipeline
becomes active.
“We struggle to meet
the demand for well
trained and qualified
truck drivers in South
Africa,” said Arnoux
Maré, MD of Innovative
Staffing Solutions. “We
currently have more than
5 000 drivers on our books
and are always looking for
new talent and skills. We
have committed to hiring
100 drivers at present,
but this figure could
significantly increase
as and when we start
engaging with the
drivers.”
While Transnet is
currently still moving
fuel via truck from
Durban to Heidelberg,
Maré confirmed that
the company was in
discussions with Transnet
management to ascertain
how to facilitate the
process and assist truck
drivers who faced possible
unemployment.
