TSHIDI NYAMA has been appointed specialist manager for Spoornet, becoming the first woman ever to sit on Spoornet's executive management committee.
Nyama joined Spoornet in 1996 as the Business Manager: Perishables. In September 1997 she was appointed Business Manager: Fuel and Petroleum to run and manage the fuel and petroleum sector generating income of R450 million per annum. In April 2000 she rose in the ranks to Assistant General Manager: Service Excellence with the responsibility of developing and sustaining the culture of service excellence within rail and terminal. She is now responsible for the business units in Spoornet which include COALink, Orex, Luxrail, and Mainline Passenger Services.
