Widening project for Pretoria-Maputo highway

The National Highway Number 4 (EN4) in Mozambique will have two sections widened from four to six lanes to help accommodate the increasing flow of traffic – which is estimated to be 53 000 vehicles daily.

The toll-road operator, Trans African Concessions (TRAC), has been authorised by the Moz government to widen sections 19 and 20 of the highway – which, including the N4 section in SA, runs from Pretoria to the Port of Maputo. It is part of the Maputo Development Corridor, designed to promote trade between Mozambique and SA.

The authorising addendum was also signed by the SA government.
