Which coutries show the most promise?

Mauritius, Botswana and Tanzania are the three Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries that are showing the most promise in advancing their trade financing policies – and thus facilitating cross-border trade – this year. This was highlighted in FTW’s Trade Financing survey, with respondents commenting that there were numerous opportunities for import/ export growth within the SADC region, provided trade financing barriers could be unlocked. A United Kingdom-based importer said that Mauritius and Botswana had shown the most promise as there were fewer trade restrictions and the countries had strong export assistance programmes in place. Respondents noted that mining, oil and agriculture industries in Tanzania, Mozambique, Angola and Zambia presented good opportunities for growth. “Tanzania has so much promise and with good governance and training they can become one of the most promising countries in the SADC region,” said an international shipping manager based in South Africa.
