DEPTHS OF 12,8m have been reached in the approach channel of Walvis Bay harbour and alongside berths 1, 2 and 3 as well as the turning basin of each of these three berths.
This follows five-months of dredging initiated by the Namibian Port Authority (Namport) in February this year.
Berths 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 have been dredged to 10,6m with the same depth applying for their turning basins.
Namport has stated that vessels manoeuvring within the harbour must have an under keel clearance of 0,6m.
The fishing harbour and its approach channel has been dredged to a depth of 6,5m.
