The Western Cape is seeing
an increase in tech industries,
a trend the Cape Chamber of
Commerce and Industry is
forecasting will play a bigger
role in the provincial economy.
According to Chamber
President Janine Myburgh,
the province has already
produced some outstanding
entrepreneurs in the IT field.
“Tech industries will play
a bigger role in our economy
in the future,” she said. “The
main reason for this is our
skilled population and a proven
ability to innovate. We have the
highest standard of education
in the country, with a number
of outstanding schools and
four universities that draw
the brightest students to the
Cape. This ensures a flow of
brainpower to commerce and
industry and that, in turn, leads
to excellence and innovation.
This is vital in a world where
technology is developing so
rapidly.”
