UPGRADES TO the N1
between Musina and the
South African border post
at Beit Bridge are nearing
completion. The engineering
and tarring has been done,
as has all the road-line
marking while crews are
finishing the drainage
gutters and Armco barriers.
Construction has begun
on the new weighbridge
and toll gate approximately
one kilometre from the
border post. Final decisions
on the tolling of users and
the possibility of a road
levy similar to Zimbabwe’s
are still to be made.
That’s the word from
Brian Kalshoven of Linked
Logistics which offers
a unitised service for
Zimbabwe importers
through its various
divisions.
Regional Link liaises
directly with suppliers of
the goods and consolidates
the loads onto the first
available truck. Beitbridge
Border Clearing Agency
sees the consignments
through the SA border and
Professional Clearing does
the import clearing.
“Receipt of loads at the
importer’s premises has
never been swifter,” said
Kalshoven.
