Saasoa head brings shipping and legal experience

WHEN WE heard that Thato Tsautse had been appointed CEO of the newly-formed SA Association of Ship Operators and Agents (Saasoa), we obviously wanted a CV on this new kid on the SA shipping industry block – and an idea of what courses she intends to steer for the association. We’ve been unable to get anything official yet – but people who have met her told FTW that she is a legal bod, has spent time in practice, but also, we were told, did a stint with SA Port Operations (now Transnet Freight Terminals). So it appears that Tsautse is alert to the shipping issues of the moment, and – when it comes to lobbying for the shipping industry’s cause – we were told that she’s able. “She’s a tough nut,” said one commentator.
