Coroma’s Vertical Riser doors are proving to be a winner for warehouse receiving and despatch areas due to their versatility and robust construction, says sales and projects executive Rodney Golden. “The doors travel vertically, using minimal floor space and can be insulated to maintain the warehouse’s internal environment.” These steel doors have been custom-made for a number of diverse facilities around the country, from pharmaceutical warehouses in Durban and Cape Town to mining workshops in Limpopo. They range in size from 1.5m wide x 3m high to an enormous 38m high, stacking 62m above the floor. The large doors are constructed from several leaves, each with its own counterweight and vertical tracks. Says Golden: “The simple modular construction of these doors makes them easy to operate and reduces maintenance requirements. They possess exceptional structural strength, so are able to withstand frequent use and wear and tear.” Operation ranges from manual push-up to hand chain or compact electric motor, rising on an equilibrium pulley system. Full weather-proofing can be incorporated, as can cladding to match the building’s exterior. If space is at a premium, the doors can be mounted on the building’s exterior. They are fitted with Coroma-manufactured tracks, hinges and fittings in hot-dipped galvanised steel for corrosion resistance and long, trouble-free service. Access doors can be incorporated into the doors for pedestrian movement when the Vertical Risers have to remain closed. Vision panels can be fitted to the doors to allow the building’s occupants to see what’s outside before opening the doors, which is a great safety and security feature, says Golden.
