KEVIN MAYHEW SINCE THE launch of his documentation monitoring service in April last year, Mike Fitzmaurice has expanded from having one active employee to employing eight people, with offices on the South African and Zimbabwean sides of the border. “The success of the business lies in its effective service delivery using simple systems, its accuracy in monitoring every movement of documentation until the vehicle leaves the border, and then capturing the data on computer. This highlights any delays and documents them,” says Fitzmaurice. While vehicle monitoring is his core business, a host of other services have been added to his portfolio. These include clearing solutions, transport broking, facilitation of diesel and parking accounts, and acting as a staging post with security for high value commodities. He also offers toll fee and petty cash accounts and the company represents its clients in dealings with the South African Revenue Service where necessary.
