UPS capitalises on enlarged EU market

LOGISTICS MAJOR UPS has taken proactive steps to exploit the potential of the newly expanded European Union. The company has expanded its portfolio across all 25 member states, adding new services to and from the 10 new EU markets. “From a business perspective, the biggest benefit of the expansion is the larger internal market,” says Thomas Gebhard, vice president of business development, UPS Europe. “Now totalling 450 million inhabitants, the European Union has become the world’s largest single market, and with expanding economies and fast growing GDPs, the ten new member states bring vast new opportunities.” The elimination of trade barriers will end Customs as shipments move with greater ease throughout the EU. Standardised procedures will also eliminate excessive documentation.
