United Maritime
Logistics celebrates its
tenth anniversary this
year.
Founded in 2002 by
directors Claude Nuttall
and Corinne French,
the company operates
exclusively from North
America to southern
Africa.
“You have to have
volumes of cargo to
maintain a weekly direct
service,” Nuttall told
FTW recently. “And that
is not always easy to do,
but we have managed
despite the massive
economic meltdown in
the USA in 2009.”
The company offers
weekly consolidations for
LCL and out-of-gauge
or breakbulk cargo, as
well as a full container
service.
“Corinne and I both
came from a USA
background and knew
the route very well,”
said Nuttall. “When
we launched UML we
decided to bring on
board a team of people
that could complement
our knowledge and
experience. Our sales
manager, Eben de
Villiers, has played a very
big role in developing
our market segment and
positioning our service in
the industry.”
In recent years the
company has seen an
increase in project cargo
and continues to see
it as a market of huge
potential.
“As we move into the
next ten years, further
expansion and growth is
definitely on the cards
as we see ourselves
extending our range of
services even more,” said
Nuttall.
