Truckers warned of looting on N11

Transporters have been advised to proceed with caution on the N11 into Middelburg in Mpumalanga due to the high risk of truck burning and looting.

This after the Transit Assistance Bureau (Transist) received information to that effect.

According to supportive information received from the South African Police Service in Middelburg, “roads are still blocked in and around Middelburg”, Transist said.

Mike Fitzmaurice, chief executive of the Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations, said although he was still trying to confirm the authenticity of the message, he believed it was legitimate and that it should be taken seriously.

“Drivers should be vigilant at all times to avoid coming under attack.”
