KEVIN MAYHEW THE ROAD Freight Association (RFA) will host its first ever Truckers’ Day on October 29 at the Wesbank Raceway in Germiston, Gauteng. The theme of the event is “Trucking for Safety 2005”. RFA chief executive officer Sipho Khumalo sees it as an opportunity to showcase the industry and build a better relationship with stakeholders, particularly the general public. “Carrying over 80% of goods that are transported in the country, the road freight industry plays a vital role in keeping the wheels of our economy growing. Our industry though is not always perceived in a very positive light. Truckers’ Day will begin to bridge the gap between us and the public. ”
