IT WAS a case of not one, not two but three company ships in port together last week for agents Diamond Shipping. Activity at the Durban car terminal has been abnormally busy in recent weeks and so matters weren't made any easier on one particular morning when three car carriers of the Hyundai Merchant Marine arrived in port one after the other.
First up was the Modern Chance, which went to the customary R berth to discharge a consignment of motor vehicles. As the ship made ready to sail the second ship, Grand Choice, arrived and was allocated to a Point berth to avoid congestion, although the two ships ended up passing each other in the channel.
No sooner had Modern Chance reached the outer approaches of the port than
the third member of the fleet arrived, Grand Race, berthing a short while
later at R berth.
