Transport Forum has announced its industry calendar of special interest group (SIG) events for the rest of the year, starting with a Women’s Month webinar this Thursday, August 4, titled “Connecting Women in Transport and Business”.

A statement issued by the Forum said: “The schedule for the remainder of 2022 is looking very exciting as in-person and hybrid events are becoming possible.”

The programme is as follows:

  • 18 August: Sustainability in Transport: Virtual event hosted by Unitrans.
  • 25 August: Violence Avoidance: Hosted by the South African Bus Operators’ Association (Saboa).
  • 1 September: Airports, Operators and Associates – the way forward:  Virtual event hosted by University of Johannesburg.
  • 8 September: Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Ciltsa) skills summit.
  • 15 September: Transnet Port Terminals – Strategy: Transport Forum SIG hosted by Transnet Port Terminals in collaboration with the South African Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff).

In October, for Transport Month, special celebrations will kick off with a virtual exhibition event hosted by the University of Johannesburg. All associates and sponsors will be entitled to take up a virtual booth to meet with delegates during the event.

The year will end on a high note, the Forum said, with the following SIG events for November and the first week of December:

  • 3 November: Border Management Authority Cross-border virtual event hosted by Global Trade Solution.
  • 17 November: Special Interest Group hosted by Saaff.
  • 24 November: Tech talk – e-Commerce Virtual Special Interest Group hosted by Global Trade Solution.
  • 1 December: Topic still to be confirmed.

The Forum has, for the past 15 years, offered a complimentary platform of SIG events relevant to the transport sector.

“When Covid struck in 2020, the Forum quickly adapted to a virtual platform which was highly successful as it empowered the Transport Forum to have a wider audience reach,” a statement reads.

“The Forum has an active attendance of over 2400 delegates at events annually and the website engages with over 7000 active users monthly. Attendees at the Transport Forum events have free access to obtain all content from the Transport Forum’s website.

“Register to be added to the newsletters and future events on www.transportsig.com.”
