‘Track record is best sales tool’

WHILE THE manufacture of a cardboard container that sidesteps new wood fumigation rules has put Mitchell Packers in the limelight in recent months, its core business remains the packing of project cargo. It’s the foundation on which owner Greg Mitchell built his business, and it’s the lifeblood on which he and the company thrive. A current undertaking involves the movement of an 80 ton water purification plant to Ghana, while the movement of 22 ton water coolers to power plants in the US and Germany is an ongoing project. The machines are sourced in Nigel and Alrode and packed by Mitchell Packers. “We started the business doing power plants and it’s remained one of our staples,” says marketing executive Deirdre Mitchell.
