Taking the term ‘abnormal load’ to new extremes recently, machine moving and rigging contractors Lovemore Bros transported and provided the rigging services for a 34-metre x 3.5-metre CO2 absorption column weighing 35 tons from the Port of Durban to the LANXESS chrome chemicals plant in Newcastle. A further two columns, comprising a prescrubber and a CO2 stripper column, weighing 15 and 22 tons respectively, were also transported and rigged into position at the plant by the Lovemore team.
