The bargain of the century!

THERE IS no better bargain available in the modern world than seafreight rates according to internet news service Bow Wave, and it cites some eye-opening examples to prove the point. "The cost of shipping 15 500 bottles of scotch whiskey from the UK to Japan has fallen from $1560 in 1991 to $675 today (September 2000). That works out at a 4 US cents a bottle! The cost of shipping 14500 pairs of trainers from the Far East to the UK is about 18 US cents a pair ... As far as trade is concerned, costs are so low that distance hardly matters.
