TRADE BETWEEN South Africa and Thailand topped the US$ 1 billion (R6bn) mark in 2004, totalling US$ 1.063bn (R6.3bn) and ranking Thailand as South Africa’s number one trading partner in Africa. South Africa is Thailand’s top trading partner in the ASEAN region. The country has dubbed 2005 ‘Africa Year’ and will host the 5th annual Thailand Exhibition in Johannesburg and introduce the first Thailand Exhibition to Cape Town. The expos will be staged from June 14-16 in Johannesburg and in Cape Town from June 20-22.
