Ten-year milestone for ACS

July 2011 marks a milestone for software systems provider Advanced Customs Solutions which celebrates ten years in the industry. “We have created and designed a software programme that is windows-based, userfriendly and makes framing an import/export SAD 500 a stroll in the park,” says Durban-based ACS’s Haren Padia. The scope of the programme is extensive, ranging from full EDI capability for imports and exports to invoicing, accounting and management reports. “From June 10 this year, manifests will be sent via EDI,” he told FTW. “In addition we have the facility for users to email any documents created on the system to their clients, keeping their clients up to date regarding their shipments.” According to Padia, business in the Durban region has blossomed over the past year. “With the many challenges SA Revenue Service has thrown our way with regards to modernisation, we have successfully implemented Phase 1 and are quite confident about the roll-out of Phase 2 as extensive testing has been done with Sars. “Thanks to regular attendance at stakeholder meetings at Megawatt Park every Thursday, we understand the direction in which Sars is heading, which enables us to simplify these changes for our customers.” Skilled staff is key in the knowledge-driven IT industry – at ACS the team offers 42 years of combined experience in the industry, says Padia. “To improve efficiency in a time-driven industry we utilise a remote access programme with protocols to assist users with queries,” he told FTW.
