Months of training
and testing laid the
foundation for a
“smooth” introduction of an
electronic data interchange
(EDI) system which has put
Transworld Cargo online since
January 2013.
An immediate benefit to
clients is improved service
levels, according to Olaf
Liebich, head of project
development at Transworld
Cargo.
The system takes pressure
off Transworld’s own operators
while allowing clients to
quickly obtain live updates on
their cargo through the web, he
says.
Documentation, such as
proof of delivery, is now sent
electronically to clients as soon
as it is entered into the system.
With some of the pressure
off operators to provide cargo
information Transworld has
been able to speed up its
response to queries and requests
for quotations, he says.
