Stevedoring services
are moving beyond
the port boundaries
into heavy and
complex lifts
elsewhere in Namibia.
“We supply the
whole package
from the port to
discharge at the site,”
says Pieter Louw,
business development
manager for Namibia
Stevedoring Services.
Working with a permanent staff
of 130, on a monthly basis the
company handles the discharge of
some two thousand vehicles, up to
7 000 containers, perishable cargo
and the loading of bagged salt,
project cargo, heavy lifts, general
cargo and other commodities.
Container stuffing and destuffing
are part of the services
offered.
The company also handles the
movement of product on factory
floors, and has provided rigging
services for many of the bigger
mining and manufacturing projects.
It is also contracted by fishing
companies to provide a “one stop”
service for fishing vessels.
Namibia Stevedoring Services
offers all-inclusive rates for imports
and exports where required.
“We offer a neutral, independent
package whereby we work with
service providers who we know are
good,” says Louw.
NSS has its own equipment
capable of handling more than
80% of the cargo types that move
through the Port of Walvis Bay.
