In an example of teamwork
and efficient logistics, Röhlig-
Grindrod moved an enormous PET
(polyetheleneterapthalate) plant from
Bellville, Western Cape, to the Middle
East.
Getting the 1 722 cubic-metre
breakbulk cargo to its destination
involved the purchasing and forwarding
of 49 forty-foot containers, as well as
the part-charter of a vessel.
Because of road embargoes on the
movement of abnormal cargo during
the December and January holiday
periods, the 18 breakbulk pieces
were transported to the port within a
12-hour period to make the booked
vessel.
