THE ALREADY slim 5.6% growth in manufacturing production in January slipped back during February to 3.8%, according to the latest figures from Statistics SA. “The decline during the month highlights the struggle that the sector has against the strong rand,” said Standard Bank economics researcher, Rashika Lalla, “but also flags the diminishing support that the sector has been getting from domestic demand.
