The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has requested airlines to adapt their flight schedules to accommodate industrial action by French air traffic controllers today.
Flights that will be affected include mainly those operating to and from Paris-Orly airport.
Air France has confirmed it will continue to operate all long-haul flights - flights from and to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and 90% of its flights to and from Paris-Orly and to and from Lille and all other domestic flights.
“We have published a revised schedule for Thursday, June 2,” British Airways said on its website.
Strikes are also set to take place on June 3, 4 and 5, with further industrial action to possibly take place on June 14.
Travellers due to fly on British Airways-operated flights to or from any French airport (as well as Madrid and Barcelona) on June 2-5, regardless of whether their flight is operating or not can move their flight back to a date up to and including Friday June 10. The airline advises that all rebookings are subject to availability and travel agents need to check the status of their clients’ flights. For flights that have been cancelled the airline requests travellers not to go to the airport but to follow the rebooking procedure available on its website.
For travellers that hold an Air France ticket issued on or before June 1, on a domestic flight to or from Paris-Orly, Lille or Pau for travel on June 2, wishing to modify their journey, can postpone their trip from June 1 to 12 at no extra cost in the same ticketed cabin. These changes can be made on the airline’s website.
“Moreover, due to another call for strike action called by some French air traffic controllers' unions on June 3,4 and 5 for which we do not have any instruction from the French Civil Aviation Authorities (DGAC), we recommend not to report for your travel on those three days,” Air France said on its website.
Air France travellers wishing to postpone their trips, change their destinations or those choosing not to travel can claim a non-refundable voucher valid for one year on Air France or KLM or Hop.
