Europe’s largest port in Rotterdam is set to stop container operations Thursday as its 3 600 workers start strike action over possible job losses, according to a union official.
A port authority spokeswoman said that it regretted the action caused by the 24-hour strike, called for after talks between it and the FNV and CNV unions stalled.
According to Bloomberg, the unions are seeking to avoid forced redundancies stemming from overcapacity and automation.
