RAY SMUTS SOUTH AFRICA remains fertile terrain for stolen luxury vehicles, four-by-four utilities high on the ‘wanted’ list. Latest reports from Kenya claim that Nairobi police are in the process of confiscating literally hundreds of vehicles stolen in either South Africa, Europe or Japan and exported via Dubai to Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda in East Africa. The Kenyan authorities are working in concert with international policing agency Interpol, amid claims by politicians and diplomats (amongst others) they were misled into acquiring vehicles for as little as R24 000.
