Staff outsourcing extends to management control

On-site support available LEONARD NEILL THE GROWING skills shortage is a commonly recurring theme in the logistics industry, as outsourcing takes on an increasingly significant role. Management of employees – whether temporary or permanent – is a major benefit for any company which contracts with a logistics staffing company for seasonal needs, the acquisition of talent, and to outsource non-core jobs, says Stefan Botha of Staffataclick. While numerous staffing agencies typically provide people but do not manage them once they are employed, specialised contract service companies can also provide logistics staffing and management services which offer the full range – from limited responsibility for productivity and quality for certain functions right through to total responsibility. This, says Botha, involves the Logista system which provides customers with a range of control options, from maintaining all management control to outsourcing the management control. “Logista offers a range of three types of staffing services. The largest chunk of the staffing industry involves temporary staffing services. Placing employees on long term assignments is a different aspect. Then you have the temp to perm staffing service which allows the client a chance to evaluate a worker before offering permanent employment.” Outsourcing can be of great benefit to big and small companies, he says.
