STACKING CONTAINERS five-high is par for the course at Cape-Town-based multi-functional container depot, Freight City, which recently took delivery of a new Linde forktruck (pictured in action on the left).
Just 15 months into the launch of the operation, we now have the ability to handle every conceivable bit of cargo put our way, says director Peter Stoffberg.
The depot provides a range of facilities from packing and distribution to washing and repairs.
It has also embarked on an intensive in-company training programme with multi-skilling of the workforce the ultimate goal. Stoffberg's secretary, for example, is qualified to drive a forklift.
