Dear Editor,
Your article New Spoornet insruance scheme puts lines in a tizzy demonstrates a biased and one-sided point of view, and reflects many inaccuracies.
As the introduction of the Freight Protection Facility to the general public is a sensitive issue, Spoornet has opted to notify the client and customer base of these new arrangements on a personalised basis, prior to approaching the media. Spoornet values the support of these customers and wishes to ensure that they are kept informed of new developments at all times before awareness is created in the mass media.
Due to this positioning, Spoornet has, as yet, not released official information or press releases to the media regarding the introduction of the mentioned facility, but plans to do so in the not too distant future.
Dr Gerhard Booysen,
assistant general manager - risk management, Spoornet, Johannesburg.
