Can be used for return cargoes
LOGS CAN now be fully containerised for sea transport, following the launch of the patented LogRac by the Ahrenkiel Group - marketed in Southern Africa by SA agents ALS Agencies.
This rugged unit is designed to carry logs, pipes, timber and similar products - and, with a tare of 5 metric tonnes, offers a maximum gross weight of 40 tonnes.
The product has just successfully completed extensive trials in New Zealand, and a series of LogRacs is being built in the Far East to supply the major NZ timber companies with a new door-to-door logistics option in their distribution of logs into Asia.
LogRacs can be stacked up to
7 high (at 30.5 tonnes) and offer the benefits of less handling and resultant damage; faster loading/discharge; negate the need for specialised log handling equipment; make for easier administration of consignments; and allow for small parcels to be shipped on any liner vessel.
The LogRac can be used for return cargoes, or can be nested in return parcels of four units.
