Software solution adds features

More user-friendly and more sophisticated RAY SMUTS MACRO 2000 has taken its warehousing software solutions to new dimensions with the recent launch of its Windows NT Version Two. The new version is much more user-friendly and provides a number of new features, says Macro account executive Anthea van Breemen. MACRO’S existing customer base that still uses NT Version One is in the process of upgrading to the more sophisticated system while new clients - including one involved in food industry warehousing - will automatically go onto NT Version Two, she explains. Features of the new system include an integrated report writer which allows users to design their own reports and documents, including logos and graphics. The fully configurable screens and multi-language feature are now in the hands of the users, enabling them to change their own screen layout or language. For example, if a screen is full of fields and the user only wishes to capture, say, two pointers, unnecessary fields can be hidden. “We have also added a document scanning feature for documents such as orders and delivery notes. If a customer places an order by fax or signs a delivery note it can be scanned into the MACRO system which stores the customer’s actual signature as proof of order and delivery.” The system provides links to PDAs and laptops for remote processing and includes a new web-based workflow management facility. South African developed, Windows NT Version Two is available for rental from R3 000 a month.
