Smooth switch for Navis

Practice makes perfect proved
to be true in the latest Navis
upgrade.
With expectations and
predictions of all-round chaos
based on previous upgrades and the
initial implementation of the port
management system several years
ago, the upgrade from software
version 2.3 to 2.6 was smooth with
incidents few and far between.
“We pulled out all the stops
to ensure that this upgrade was
incident-free, which included
undertaking a number of
interventions to mitigate the
business risks for both Transnet
Port Terminals (TPT) and
our customers,” said Deirdre
Ackermann, general manager of
EIMS at TPT.
Navis 2.6 has several new features
like enhanced rail functionality,
improved performance and
scalability and a refreshed planning
and control user interface.
