Shipping major suffers cyber breach

Mere days short of recording a breach-free year since last September’s malware attack, French container line CMA CGM has suffered another cyber intrusion, leaking information of personal clients to hackers.

Apart from first names and surnames, the hack also harvested information regarding employers, positions, emails addresses, and phone numbers.

Singaporean ocean freight portal, Splash 247, reported that the breach had been patched up immediately by the Marseille-run line’s IT team.

There’s no further information about the data theft at this stage.

CMA CGM did warn customers to act with extreme caution and to be on their guard for an email doing the rounds requesting clients to log onto the carrier’s platform for reason of password resetting.
