Sharaf adds new division in Walvis Bay

Sharaf Shipping Agency is
setting up a new customs
clearance and over-border
division in Walvis Bay
“which will allow us to offer
a complete service package,”
says managing director Sumit
Banerjee.
The expansion of the
Namibian office is part of
the Sharaf Group’s African
strategy.
“The Group has always
maintained that Africa has
massive growth potential, and
since entering South Africa in
1997 has been expanding at
quite a rapid pace. It currently
has offices in 22 countries
across Africa,” he says.
Sharaf Shipping Agency
has a long-term view of the
potential of this market and
sees the current situation in
the Namibian market as “the
best time to invest, as the
trend can only move upwards,
and we remain optimistic in
this regard”.
“The country’s strategic
location gives it a competitive
position as a transport hub for
all regional and international
trade between Southern
African Development
Community (SADC) countries
and Europe, the Americas,
and the rest of the world.
“Added to this, the new
container terminal expected
in 2018 will be a real boon
for the Namibian economy,”
he says.
“With wide network
coverage in our own system
we can add value by providing
our customers with shipping
and economic intelligence,”
he says.
