EAST LONDON'S R80million multi-level vehicle car terminal which can handle 50 000 units annually emerged from what has been described as the city's 'biggest eyesore.'
When the new facility was officially opened last Tuesday, Eastern Cape premier Makhenkesi Stofile recalled how, on his first visit to the harbour three years ago, he was somewhat ashamed to see what he described as 'the ugliest part of the whole area.'
It was a dirty scrap metal dump, and we all wondered what could be done to improve the situation. Today that has all been changed into what is now the jewel in the industrial crown of our community, said the executive mayor of Buffalo City, Sindisile Maclean.
