BOB GARBETT, pictured with panel member Pat Corbin, allayed some industry concerns about the proposed Security 108 legislation at last week’s Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of South Africa (Ciltsa) conference in Gauteng (see page 22). The two-day event, featuring a line-up of top local and international speakers, attracted a disappointing 70 delegates. Divisional senior vice president cargo at Emirates Airlines, Ram Menen, delivered the keynote address, predicting that airfreight demand would grow by just under 5% a year over the next few years.
