SEBENZA FORWARDING & Shipping Consultancy has a new management team.
Ntokozo Mogorosi has been appointed managing director of the nationally-based logistics company, bringing to the position a strong background in human resources.
The appointment of a black female managing director is a first for the logistics industry and underscores the empowerment company’s commitment to transformation, says Mogorosi.
A social worker by profession, she qualified at Fort Hare University, completing her post graduate studies in human resources at the University of the Witwatersrand.
After practising as a social worker for ten years, followed by stints with Women for Peace and the Association for the Physically Disabled, she moved into the corporate world with South African Airways and the Road Accident Fund. She joined Sebenza in the human resources department and was appointed acting MD in August, an appointment that was ratified by the Board last week.
“In a service industry, our major assets are our staff who have pledged their support to the new management team,” says Mogorosi, “and a background in human resources is a clear advantage.”
Another new appointment is Francois van Wyk who takes over as group operations director.
He brings to the position a strong operations background. A founder member of Sebenza, he rejoined the company four months ago after a four-year stint pursuing other business interests.
“We believe that the mix of human resources skills and operational expertise is a winning formula,” says Mogorosi, whose priorities for the immediate future will be to cement relationships with clients and overseas agents, and to play a leading role in the finalisation of a black economic empowerment charter for the industry.
