Seaclad gets China

New service begins next month, writes Terry Hutson

DURBAN-BASED Seaclad Maritime has been appointed South African agent for China Shipping Container Lines, which is one of a three company ship sharing arrangement introducing a new service between South East Asia, South Africa and West Africa.
The other two shipping lines involved are Gold Star Line and the CMA-CGM groupÕs Australian subsidiary, ANL CL.
Ten container ships of between 1 200 and 1 700 TEU capacity are being deployed on the service that will operate weekly, with a rotation of Ho Chi Minh, Laem Chabang, Port Kelang, Colombo, Reunion, Durban, Tema, Lagos, Cotonou, Lome, Abidjan, Durban, Colombo, Port Kelang, Ho Chi Minh.
The first ship departs Port Kelang on September 22 and is due in Durban on October 8.
FTW understands that the other agents are Inchcape Shipping acting for CMA-CGM/ANL CL and Polaris for Gold Star Line.
