South Africa's new vehicle sales fell by 8.6% in October year-on-year from 59 335 units to 54 244.
Of the total Industry sales, an estimated 80.9% represented dealer sales, 12.2% represented sales to the vehicle rental industry, 3.5% to industry corporate fleets and 3.4% constituted sales to government, reported the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa).
Further, exports were down 13.9% at 27 732 units compared with 32 199 last year, said the Department of Trade and Industry (dti).
However, exports remain on target to reach a record number of about 335 000 units.
