Sars goes non-intrusive at three SA ports of entry

The Port of Durban.

SA Revenue Service (Sars) customs now has a non-intrusive inspection capability at the Ports of Durban and Cape Town, and at Beitbridge border post.

This offers an expedited inspection service without having to physically break seals or de-van a vehicle or container. Also, the equipment offers high-resolution capability from the X-ray imaging technology.

According to Sars, it has recently published a standard (SC-CC-35) for external parties relating to the scanner operation as well as health and safety standards.
