CUSTOMS, EXCISE and VAT details can be electronically transmitted to concerned parties, with payments being handled in the same manner, if the present investigation being carried out by South African Revenue Services (SARS) gets the green light from the business sector.
SARS has announced its plan to simplify the tax responsibilities of clients in this respect and is undertaking a survey which will run until January 29.
Receiving payments and issuing receipts electronically, requesting and receiving correspondence in the same manner, and the issuing and receiving of various tax forms and supporting documents are under consideration.
Businesses involved in these areas are requested to submit comments and recommendations via SARS Online at www.sars.gov.za. Telephonic or written comments should go to Michelle Welgemoed, P O Box 402, Pretoria 0001 or telephone (012) 334-6127, fax (012) 323-3495. Email: mwelgemoed@ptar4.sars.gov.za
