Mediterranean Shipping Company's new empty container park at City Deep is now in full swing.
It was completed at the end of last year and in the short space of two days MSC had moved lock stock and barrel into their new home.
The entire move was effected under the direction of Sandra Sarno, and included the move by MSC Logistics into their new office block and park on the site.
We actually have two facilities there, Captain Salvatore Sarno, chairman of MSC in South Africa, told FTW. One is for MSC Logistics and the other for our carrier haulage facilities, including workshops for the refurbishment of containers on site. There is also 10 000 square metres of parking available for trailer trucks to use as an overnight staging post.
MSC's new Durban full container depot at the Bayhead site, which includes custom bond storage and a new office block was delivered by the builders for an official opening on 15 December, became operational from that date, says Sarno.
