The professional body for supply chain management, Sapics, in partnership with the Centre for Logistics Excellence (CLX) last week ran a one-day “Supply Chain 101” programme for 15 unemployed women.
The women were given the opportunity to complete the training course, geared towards helping them re-enter the workforce and attain a professional designation in supply chain management, in honour of Women’s Month.
All 15 women were required to have a matric certificate and to have been previously employed for at least a year to participate in the programme – which is the starting block for individuals wanting to be recognised as supply chain professionals.
““It is Sapics and CLX’s hope that by earning this designation, the trainees will be able to demonstrate to future employers their level of commitment to the profession and to their own professional development,” said Sapics president, Mungo Park.
